  • 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce (optional)
  • About 20 wonton wrappers
  • Cooking spray or oil (such as avocado oil spray)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for sprinkling)
  • Sweet chili sauce or soy sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, finely chopped green onions, garlic powder, and soy sauce if using. Mix until smooth and evenly blended.
  2. Place one wonton wrapper on a clean, flat surface. Keep the rest covered with a damp towel to prevent drying.
  3. Using a teaspoon or piping bag, place about 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of filling in the center of the wrapper. Do not overfill.
  4. Lightly moisten the edges of the wrapper with water using your finger or a small brush. Fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, pressing firmly around the edges to seal. Optionally, fold the corners in or crimp with a fork for extra security.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  6. Lightly spray or brush the wontons with oil on both sides.
  7. Place the wontons in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overlapping. Cook in batches if necessary.
  8. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through for even browning. Remove when golden and crispy.
  9. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce such as sweet chili or soy sauce.

Notes

Do not skip softening the cream cheese to avoid tearing wrappers. Use water to seal edges well and avoid overfilling to prevent leaks. Lightly oil wontons before air frying for a golden crisp. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for even cooking. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes. Avoid microwaving to keep crispiness.
