This copycat Chick-fil-A banana pudding is a creamy, dreamy dessert with a perfect balance of sweetness and banana flavor. It’s quick, easy, and perfect for any occasion, delivering that melt-in-your-mouth texture and classic southern charm.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 45 ripe but firm bananas, sliced
  • About 1.5 cups vanilla wafers, crushed or whole
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped to soft peaks

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix with 3 cups of whole milk for about 2 minutes until thickened.
  2. Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. In a separate chilled bowl, whip the heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the whipped cream into the pudding mixture using a spatula.
  5. Peel and slice the bananas into about 1/4-inch thick rounds.
  6. In a 9×13-inch dish, spread a thin layer of pudding at the bottom.
  7. Add a layer of vanilla wafers, then a layer of banana slices.
  8. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used, ending with a final pudding layer on top.
  9. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight.
  10. Optional: Just before serving, garnish with extra crushed vanilla wafers or banana slices.

Notes

Use ripe but firm bananas to avoid watery pudding. Be gentle when folding whipped cream to keep the texture airy. Chilling overnight is best for flavor melding and wafer softening. Lightly brush bananas with lemon juice to prevent browning. Gluten-free and dairy-free substitutions are possible.
