Easy Air Fryer Potato Wedges - featured image

Crispy, golden potato wedges made in the air fryer with just five simple ingredients. These wedges are fluffy on the inside and shatteringly crisp on the outside, offering a healthier alternative to deep-fried fries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium Russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried Thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash potatoes thoroughly and cut each into three or four wedges, aiming for uniform sizes.
  2. Place cut wedges in a large bowl and fill with cold water. Soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
  3. Drain and rinse potatoes, then pat them completely dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
  4. Return dry wedges to the bowl and drizzle with olive oil.
  5. Sprinkle with garlic powder, smoked paprika, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Toss until evenly coated.
  6. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  7. Arrange wedges in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring space between them for air circulation.
  8. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping wedges at the 7-minute mark.
  9. Check for doneness; if needed, cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy.
  10. Serve immediately with desired dipping sauces.

Notes

Soaking the potatoes is crucial to remove starch and ensure crispiness. Ensure wedges are completely dry before cooking to prevent steaming. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the basket, which leads to soggy results. Russet potatoes are recommended for their fluffy texture, but Yukon Golds can be used for a waxy texture.
