A refreshing and easy-to-make summer punch combining fresh mint, bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup, and soda water. Perfect for parties and warm-weather gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves (loosely packed)
  • 2 cups bourbon whiskey (480 ml)
  • 1 cup simple syrup (240 ml)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (120 ml)
  • 2 cups soda water (480 ml)
  • Crushed ice
  • Lemon slices and extra mint sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place fresh mint leaves and simple syrup in the bottom of a punch bowl or pitcher. Gently muddle the mint leaves with a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon for about 20 seconds to release oils without bitterness.
  2. Add bourbon and fresh lemon juice to the bowl. Stir gently to combine. Fill the punch bowl halfway with crushed ice.
  3. Top with soda water and stir gently. Add more crushed ice as needed. Garnish with lemon slices and mint sprigs. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not over-muddle the mint to avoid bitterness. Use crushed ice for better chilling and gradual dilution. Fresh lemon juice is preferred over bottled for brightness. Prepare the mint and simple syrup base ahead and add bourbon, lemon juice, and soda water just before serving to keep freshness and fizz.
