Refreshing Homemade Electrolyte Drink Recipe

homemade electrolyte drink recipe - featured image

A natural, hydrating electrolyte drink made with simple kitchen ingredients like green apple, lime, honey, sea salt, and coconut water. Perfect for post-workout recovery or hot days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium green apple, chopped (about 1-inch pieces)
  • Juice of 1 fresh lime (about 1 tablespoon / 15 ml)
  • 12 teaspoons raw honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup (240 ml) coconut water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold water
  • 45 fresh mint leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chop 1 medium green apple into small chunks (about 1-inch pieces). If using fresh mint, rinse and roughly chop the leaves.
  2. Roll the lime on the countertop to loosen the juice, cut in half, and squeeze out the juice using a citrus juicer or by hand, removing any seeds.
  3. In a blender, combine chopped apple, fresh lime juice, honey or maple syrup (start with 1 teaspoon), sea salt, and mint leaves if using. Add coconut water and cold water.
  4. Blend on high for 45 seconds to 1 minute until smooth with a slightly pulpy texture. Add more water if too thick. Taste and adjust sweetness or salt as needed.
  5. Optional: Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher or bottle for a smoother drink. Press down with a spoon to extract juice. Skip if you prefer pulp.
  6. Keep chilled or serve over ice. Shake or stir before pouring as it may settle.

Notes

Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a refreshing tang or sweeter apples like Fuji for less honey. Adjust honey and salt to balance flavors. Strain for a smoother texture or keep pulp for more fiber. Serve chilled or over ice. Store in airtight container in fridge up to 48 hours. Stir before serving. Fresh lime juice is best. Honey dissolves better if mixed with lime juice first.
