A quick and easy 5-ingredient dinner featuring tender chicken strips and egg noodles coated in a sweet, sticky garlic sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights and packed with bold flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) chicken breast or thighs, thinly sliced
  • 45 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • 8 ounces (225g) egg noodles
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced
  • Toasted sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add 8 ounces (225g) of egg noodles and cook according to package instructions until just tender (usually 4-5 minutes). Drain and rinse under cold water to stop cooking. Set aside.
  2. While noodles cook, thinly slice 1 pound (450g) of chicken breasts or thighs into bite-sized strips.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup (60ml) soy sauce, 2 tablespoons honey, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, and 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional). Whisk until combined and set aside.
  4. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add a splash of oil and the minced garlic (4-5 cloves). Sauté garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
  5. Add the chicken strips, spreading them out in a single layer. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Avoid overcrowding the pan to get a nice sear.
  6. Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken in the skillet. Stir to coat the chicken evenly. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes sticky.
  7. Add the drained noodles to the skillet. Using tongs or chopsticks, gently toss to combine noodles with chicken and sauce. Heat through for another 1-2 minutes so noodles soak up flavor.
  8. Remove from heat. Sprinkle sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds on top. Serve immediately while warm and sticky.

Notes

If the sauce feels too thick, add a splash of water or broth to loosen it. Cook garlic just until fragrant to avoid bitterness. Avoid overcrowding the pan when cooking chicken for a nice sear. Leftovers keep well for up to 3 days in the fridge and can be refreshed by reheating in a skillet with a little oil.
