A classic club sandwich with perfectly toasted bread, layers of turkey, crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, and ripe tomato, topped with a tangy mayo-mustard sauce. Quick, easy, and delicious for lunch or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 slices white or whole wheat sandwich bread (preferably sturdy sourdough)
  • 68 slices crispy cooked bacon (thick-cut)
  • 8 oz sliced turkey breast (leftover roast turkey or deli slices)
  • 2 large ripe tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh iceberg lettuce or romaine, shredded
  • 3 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese (optional)
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Butter, softened, for spreading on bread slices (unsalted preferred)

Instructions

  1. Cook 6-8 slices of bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Drain on paper towels to remove excess grease.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/3 cup mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  3. Butter one side of each of the 9 bread slices lightly. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Toast the bread slices, butter side down, until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Set aside.
  4. Place one toasted bread slice on a board, sauce side up (spread about 1 tablespoon). Layer turkey slices (about 3 oz), half the lettuce and tomato slices. Sprinkle salt and pepper on the tomato.
  5. Top with another toasted bread slice, sauce side up. Spread sauce again (about 1 tablespoon). Layer cooked bacon slices (3-4 slices), cheese slices, and remaining lettuce and tomato.
  6. Crown with the final toasted bread slice, sauce side down.
  7. Cut the sandwich diagonally into quarters using a sharp serrated knife. Secure each quarter with a toothpick if needed. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use sturdy bread like sourdough to prevent sogginess. Butter both sides of bread before toasting for a golden crust. Layer lettuce between tomato and bacon to keep bread from getting soggy. Assemble just before eating for best texture. For gluten-free, use gluten-free bread and toast longer. For dairy-free, omit cheese or use plant-based alternatives.
