A creamy, garlicky white pizza sauce that adds a rich and indulgent flavor to your homemade pizzas. Easy to make with simple ingredients and perfect for a variety of toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
  • ½ cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: finely chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook gently for 3-4 minutes until fragrant and slightly golden, stirring often to avoid burning.
  3. Sprinkle the flour over the butter and garlic, stirring continuously for 1-2 minutes to cook out the raw flour taste and thicken the base.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps, and cook for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens to a smooth, creamy consistency.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  6. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  7. Let the sauce cool for 5 minutes before spreading over pizza dough.

Notes

Cook garlic slowly over low heat to avoid bitterness. Whisk constantly when adding milk to prevent lumps. Use freshly grated Parmesan for best melting and flavor. Adjust thickness by adding more milk if too thick or simmering longer if too thin. Sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
